Abe Lincoln Book Award Reading Challenge
The Abraham Lincoln Award is awarded annually to the author of the book voted as most outstanding by participating students in grades nine through twelve in Illinois. The award is sponsored by AISLE (Association of School Library Educators) and is designed to encourage high school students to read for personal satisfaction and become familiar with authors of young adult and adult books.

Here are some ways we recognize and celebrate the Abe Lincoln Award at Lakes:
- Students who read at least 4 of the 20 titles by mid-March are eligible to vote for their favorite as part of the state contest.
- Students who read all 20 are inducted into the ILC Reader Hall of Fame.
- Students are invited to participate in the Battle of the Books.
- Anyone who participates in one of the three options above is awarded with incentives and prizes.
