Eagles Read
Our main mission in the ILC is to promote reading for fun. That's what Eagles Read is all about! Check out a few of the programs and events we organize:
- The Abraham Lincoln Award is awarded annually to the author of the book voted as most outstanding by participating students in grades nine through twelve in Illinois. The award is sponsored by AISLE (Association of School Library Educators) and is designed to encourage high school students to read for personal satisfaction and become familiar with authors of young adult and adult books. Students must read at least 4 of the 20 titles to be eligible to vote. Students who read all 20 are inducted into the ILC Reader Hall of Fame. Participants are awarded with incentives and prizes.
- We often hold school-wide reading contests. Sometimes it's Battle of the Books. Sometimes it's Pageapalooza. Check the school news and your school email for information.
